DIY || Christmas Nails

IMG_4585
Can you believe Christmas is 4 more sleeps away?! Nope, me neither, it has come around way too quick! This week has been such a hectic one with last minute Christmas shopping and everything else - so apologies for the late post. To get in the Christmas spirit I decided to get my creative hat on and design some festive nail art to glam up my nails ready for Christmas! They are actually super easy to do, so if you are looking to add a touch of festivity to your nails, continue reading to find out how!

Snowflake and festive pattern design
You will first of all need to paint your nails with a base colour of your choice. Ensure you give each nail a good two coats and that it is fully dry before applying your nail art. The Santa nail is slightly different so I shall explain that below.

After your nails are dry you will need some nail art pens, these are available from boots or super-drug, I am using the Barry M ones. Simply press down with the pen on your nails and draw your design. If like me your artistic skills are lacking, then practice on a piece of paper with your nail art pens first.

Santa Nails
First of all take a red nail varnish and paint a little section at the bottom of your nail - this will resemble the hat. You will then need to wait for this to dry. After the red is dry, you then want a nude nail varnish, paint a small middle section, and again wait until it is dry. After the nude is dry you then want to finish off the hat by adding a white rim right underneath the red nail varnish. Underneath the nude section you then want to paint the rest of the nail white as this will represent santa's beard. After this is dry, take a white nail art pen and draw two small circles onto the nude section - this will be the eyes. Wait for that to dry and then using a black nail art pen put a small dot in the white circle. For the nose use your red nail varnish and carefully make a little dot. Finally draw a smile using the black nail art pen in the white beard section.

To finish, apply a top coat to all of your nails to give a glossy shine. Here is the finishing result of my nails -
